SafeGuards Speaks Out on Meth in Philly

…health officials agree: The extent of meth use among gay men in Philadelphia is not clear.

“One a scale of one to ten, I would put it at five and growing,” said Brian M. Green, director of The SafeGuards Project, a nonprofit organization providing information on the health needs of Philadelphia’s LGBT community.

How fast and to what extent the problem is growing is not clear.

According to Green, a major barrier to addressing the meth problem is a lack of data. Much of the information available is from small studies or anecdotal evidence…
